The Jesuit Fathers in Malta are supporting a few Jesuit Mission works in Africa, and have begun collecting unused mobile phone for Nyumbani. These projects, as well as others, are partly financed by mobiles collected from Europe.

What happens to the collected mobiles. We take them to Italy, where they are added to the mobiles collected from that country. The usable mobiles are distributed among poor villagers in Africa, thus empowering them to better their life-conditions through better communication. Studies have proved that increased mobile communication is a decisive factor in the development of poorer countries. The unusable mobiles are forwarded to recycling companies against payment. The money thus generated is channelled to fund the above and similar development projects run by the Jesuits. Thanks to a previous similar campaign in Malta last year, more than 9,000 euro were raised.
