Good Morning, Everyone!

Sorry I am a day late with my update but yesterday we attended the wedding of Nicholas Makau who I believe most of you know.  It was a beautiful ceremony at Kitui Village so we left here at 6 AM so we could be in time for the wedding ceremony at 10 AM.  we got there with plenty of time to spare so we had time to walk around and see the village and greet the people.  Father Dag would be delighted to see how well things are going and to see the happy faces of the people, especially the children.  One of the most touching parts of the ceremony was at the offertory time when one of the gifts was a child handed to Nicholas as a symbolic gesture of his and Faith's call to care for the children, their own and those of the village. At the wedding ceremony Faith was also baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Church before she was married.  At this point Father asked all those to stand who had supported her in her faith journey and led her to ask to be baptized in the Catholic Church.  i thought this is a real symbol of ecumenism to thank the members of her church for the faith they had shared with her. After the ceremony Nicholas and Faith rode on a donkey cart to where they were having their photos taken with various groups.  At this point Maureen from Nyumbani was ready with a beautiful display of wedding cakes that she had baked, decorated and beautifully displayed.  We were not able to stay any longer but I'm sure thecake cutting ceremony was great and the cake was as delicious as it looked. Please say a special prayer for Nicholas and Faith that God will continue to bless them with love and happiness.

the kids finished school this week.  Haven't gotten all of the results yet but I'm anxious to find out how many children will be in my 400 Club and need a special treat for their excellent academic performance.  Mungai did fairly well when you take into consideration that he never went to standards 1 and 2 and it was his first time in regular school.  We'll work with him during the break and help him to improve.  He is just going to need some time to adjust to the new school setting.he went this week and had his ears check.  Both ears are still fine.  he is not experiencing any ear problems.$$We begin our August School Holiday Program on Monday.  i think we are all set.  we are as ready as we can be.  i keep telling the volunteers to be sure they have their class and club work ready because if we are not ready for them they are always ready for us.  I learned this lesson well from my many years as a teacher and principal.  So, please pray all our plays work out pretty well so that the kids learn and have fun and so do the volunteers.
